Choosing to Survive

Choosing to Survive
Choosing To Survive, Seeds of Hope for Abused Children of All Ages, by Janice L. Barrett, is not only a touching story of the life of an abused child but also the roles children sometimes assume in an effort to keep themselves safe. It is a non-overwhelming, yet helpful guide, for those in and around abusive situations who want to begin the healing process.

In this well researched book, Janice does an excellent job of identifying the roles/personalities of abused children as well as offering insight into their situation. Through identifying resources, as well as offering useful and doable life changing suggestions, Janice shows how the cycle of abuse can be broken.

The information Janice gives is also of tremendous help to those professionals who are care givers, counselors and teachers, as well as the community in general. Child abuse and domestic violence has lifetime ramifications that affect everyone, not just the abused. This problem is not limited to any race, social or economic status.

Choosing To Survive is filled with hope and offers the reader guidance to assist in their own recovery.
